TUBAS ON THE LAKE. THE SILENCE OF MERMAIDS

A concert of silences for tubas and rowboats that recreates a crepuscular encounter of great ocean liners on the high seas. The piece played is the Symphony of Sirens, written for an indeterminate number of tubas that emulate the solemn, calm sound of foghorns used on ships.

As the light changes and twilight turns into dusk, the mermaids and musicians on the rowboats are moved around the lake by an accompanying rower. Meanwhile, the lights at the park are turned on and shadows start to appear.
